AS9674 FET-TW Far EastTone Telecommunication Co., Ltd.

AS9674 (FET-TW) is held by Far EasTone Telecommunications Co., Ltd., one of Taiwan's three major telecom operators and part of the Far Eastern Group. Far EasTone completed its merger with Asia Pacific Telecom (APT) in December 2023, absorbing that operator's spectrum, customers and address space.

What it's used for

This is Far EasTone's consumer access network. RIS sees 80 IPv4 prefixes carrying 1,844,480 addresses plus 40 IPv6 prefixes out of 2401:e180::/32 space, all announced through only 2 observed BGP neighbours. That combination is the textbook eyeball signature: an enormous address pool reaching a small number of upstream/backbone attachments, rather than the thousands of neighbours a wholesale transit carrier would show. The IPv4 inventory is built from large legacy-scale blocks. 27.240.0.0/13 and 110.24.0.0/13 at the top, then a long run of /16s and /17s, which is how a network with millions of subscriber sessions carves address space by region and access platform.

The reverse DNS confirms the role and the merger. Sampled addresses across the /13s and /16s all resolve to *.adsl.fetnet.net, generated per-address subscriber names on Far EasTone's fixed broadband. Separately, 223.22.128.0 space resolves under mobile.dynamic.aptg.com.tw, the former Asia Pacific Telecom mobile pool, now carried inside the same AS.

Notable

• The AS carries both fixed broadband and post-merger APT mobile subscribers, so traffic from it can be either a home line or a handset.
• Forty IPv6 prefixes, mostly /43s, indicate a genuine dual-stack subscriber deployment rather than a token allocation.
