AS9619 SSD Sony Global Solutions Inc.

AS9619 (SSD) is held by Sony Global Solutions Inc., the Sony group's in-house IT services company. It runs the systems integration, infrastructure and information-security functions that underpin Sony's corporate IT, and it exists to serve the group rather than an external customer base.

What it's used for

This is Sony's corporate network, and the reverse DNS says so plainly: every sampled address resolves under noc.sony.co.jp, with names like sw2.tdc.noc.sony.co.jp and sgwlb01.jdc.noc.sony.co.jp. Those are network-operations hostnames, switches and load balancers, tagged by data-centre site (tdc, jdc) rather than by customer. The AS announces 8 IPv4 prefixes for 200,704 addresses, and three of them are full legacy class-B /16s: 133.138.0.0/16, 146.215.0.0/16 and 137.153.0.0/16. The rest is a /20 and a handful of /24s from 211.125.128.0, plus three IPv6 blocks under 2001:cf8::/32. Four observed BGP neighbours on 200k addresses is the signature of a large enterprise buying resilient transit, not of a provider. Nothing here is sold as connectivity: the space carries Sony's own corporate estate.

Notable

• The SSD handle predates the current company name. Sony Global Solutions began life as Sony System Designs Inc. in 1988, and the registry handle has outlived two renamings.
• Three separate class-B /16s in one enterprise AS is a strong sign of an early, pre-CIDR allocation history rather than modern RIR grants.
