AS9615 TEES TOYOHASHI CABLE NETWORK INC.

AS9615 (TEES) is held by Toyohashi Cable Network Inc., the cable television and broadband operator serving Toyohashi, Tahara and Shinshiro in Aichi Prefecture. It trades under the nickname TEES (ティーズ), runs its own community TV channel, and is affiliated with the Community Network Center group of regional Japanese cable operators.

What it's used for

This is a straightforward residential cable-broadband network. It announces 10 IPv4 prefixes for 71,680 addresses, headed by a /17 (153.125.0.0/17) with the remainder as /19s, /20s and a /21 drawn from unrelated parents, the accumulation pattern of an operator that has been granted subscriber space in instalments over many years. Every sampled address in every announced block resolves under tees.ne.jp and, decisively, every PTR carries a catv label: 153-125-0-5.catv.tees.ne.jp, catv-96-005.tees.ne.jp, catv-53-112-005.tees.ne.jp. The operator is literally naming its address space after the cable plant it hangs off. The 11 observed BGP neighbours put it where a regional ISP sits, with a couple of upstreams and some domestic peering, far below any transit role.

• The two PTR styles (<dashed-ip>.catv.tees.ne.jp and catv-<n>-<n>.tees.ne.jp) map onto different generations of address block, so the rDNS itself records the network's growth in stages.
• No IPv6 is announced, despite the operator having completed an FTTH backbone build in its service area.
• TEES partners with other carriers for telephony and line services, so its consumer bundle is broader than what this AS carries.
