AS9411 NONTRINET-AS-AP Kasetsart University, Thailand

AS9411 (NONTRINET-AS-AP) is held by Kasetsart University, Thailand's oldest agricultural university and one of its largest public universities, based at Bang Khen in Bangkok with satellite campuses. NontriNet is the name of the university's campus network — "Nontri" being a long-standing Kasetsart identity, also used for its student and staff account system.

What it's used for

This is a university campus network of the classic shape. RIS observes 18 IPv4 prefixes carrying 65,792 addresses, dominated by the legacy 158.108.0.0/16 and the sixteen /20s deaggregated out of it, plus one 192.102.83.0/24. Alongside that sit 18 IPv6 prefixes — a set of /36s carved from 2406:3100::/32 — and only 5 observed BGP neighbours. A full /16 with five peers is an institution consuming connectivity, not selling it: the peers will be Thai research-network and commercial upstreams, and the address space serves faculties, labs, halls of residence, campus Wi-Fi and public university services. Reverse DNS confirms the identity directly: 158.108.216.5 resolves to www.ku.ac.th, the university's own web presence, and a sampled host in the /24 answers under kasetsart.university.

Notable

• The heavy internal deaggregation — a /20 announced for each sixteenth of the /16, plus /36s per IPv6 slice — is how a large campus splits address space by faculty or site while retaining one AS boundary.
• IPv6 is not decorative here: eighteen announced v6 prefixes against eighteen v4 ones means the campus runs dual-stack in earnest, which is common among South-East Asian research universities connected to regional academic backbones.
• 158.108.0.0/16 is an early allocation. A /16 for a Thai university reflects how address space was distributed in the era when Kasetsart was one of the country's first networked institutions.
