AS9335 CAT-CLOUD-AP CAT Telecom Public Company Limited

AS9335 is registered today as NTPCL-AS-AP, held by National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Thai state-owned operator formed on 7 January 2021 by merging CAT Telecom and TOT. Its older handle was CAT-CLOUD-AP, and that name is the better guide to the network's actual job: it is the cloud, data-centre and business-services side of the operator, not its consumer access network.

What it's used for

The inventory is unusually fragmented for a national carrier, and that fragmentation is the tell. RIS sees 144 IPv4 prefixes carrying only about 46,336 addresses, plus 6 IPv6 prefixes, against just 3 BGP neighbours. Very few neighbours rules out a wholesale transit role. A large prefix count over a small total address count means the space is being sliced into many small blocks: the largest announcements are a handful of /19s and /20s out of 122.155.0.0, 110.78.192.0 and 61.19.240.0, but the bulk of the 144 prefixes are /24s. That is exactly what a hosting/IDC and enterprise-services network looks like, where each customer or each service gets its own small routed block. An eyeball broadband network of comparable importance would show far more addresses in far fewer, larger aggregates. The sampled reverse DNS is sparse but points the same way: 61.19.248.5 resolves to mx1.icat.co.th, an operator-run mail exchanger in CAT's legacy icat.co.th domain.

• The AS is a piece of NT, not all of NT: the parent operates fixed line, mobile, satellite, submarine cable and international gateway businesses across many other ASes.
• The CAT-CLOUD handle survives from before the merger and still describes the function — cloud and IDC space rather than subscriber access.
• The prefix inventory includes non-APNIC-looking blocks such as 45.136.239.0/24 and 103.114.200.0/22 alongside its legacy Thai space.
