AS9268 OVERTHEWIRE-AS-AP Over The Wire Pty Ltd

AS9268 (OVERTHEWIRE-AS-AP) is held by Over the Wire Pty Ltd, a Brisbane-founded business telecommunications, voice, cloud and managed-IT provider. Over the Wire Holdings was acquired by Aussie Broadband in 2022, so the AS now sits inside the Aussie Broadband group while continuing to operate under its own name.

What it's used for

The network is small but well-connected: roughly 23–27 IPv4 prefixes totalling about 7,680 addresses, a single IPv6 /48 (2406:c500:ffd2::/48), and around 34 observed BGP neighbours. That ratio is the signature of a business-grade ISP rather than an eyeball network. Only 7,680 addresses would be nothing for a residential operator, but the peering breadth shows a network that terminates a lot of customer circuits and peers actively in the Australian exchanges. The address space itself is fragmented across 202.174.32.0/20 plus a long tail of /24s and /23s drawn from several different blocks (103.x, 203.x), which is what accumulates when a provider assigns a /24 per corporate customer and picks up further space over time.

• Sampled reverse DNS shows generic infrastructure PTRs under otw.net.au alongside customer-specific names such as a mail host in an Australian company's own domain, consistent with hosted and managed services for business customers.
• Over the Wire's product mix was voice/SIP, data networking, cloud and security for business, enterprise, government and wholesale customers, not consumer broadband.
• Aussie Broadband's own eyeball network is a separate AS; card the one in front of you, and this one is the business/managed-services side of the group.
