AS9260 MULTINET-AS-AP Multinet Pakistan Pvt. Ltd.

AS9260 (MULTINET-AS-AP) is held by Multinet Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd., a Karachi-based fibre network operator that sells long-haul and metro connectivity, IP transit, data-centre and managed enterprise services rather than mass-market consumer broadband. It is the company's main routing identity in the APNIC region.

What it's used for

The AS announces 129 IPv4 prefixes covering about 34,816 addresses, plus 22 IPv6 prefixes out of 2401:8e00::/32. That is a modest address footprint for a national carrier, and the shape of it is telling: the bulk sits in two /19s (202.141.224.0/19, 202.142.160.0/19) and a 125.209.120.0/21, with the remaining hundred-odd routes deaggregated down to /24s. Deaggregation at that ratio is what a carrier does when it hands individual /24s to individual corporate sites and multihomed customers, not what an eyeball ISP does with a subscriber pool. Only around ten BGP neighbours are observed, so this is not a wholesale transit hub with a broad peering edge either. It is a business-connectivity network: enterprise sites, bank branches, tower backhaul and downstream ISPs, all hanging off a comparatively small pool of routable space.

• Multinet markets itself around long-haul fibre, MPLS/DPLC circuits, IP transit, fibre-to-the-tower backhaul and data-centre services, with a customer base weighted toward the financial sector.
• Sampled reverse DNS is mixed: generic per-address PTRs under multi.net.pk, some under optix.pk, and GPON subscriber-style names under wateen.net. The latter two are other Pakistani operators, so this space is carrying downstream and partner networks as well as Multinet's own customers.
