AS9249 VUTELECOM-AS01-VU-AP Telecom Vanuatu Limited

AS9249 (VUTELECOM-AS01-VU-AP) is held by Telecom Vanuatu Limited (TVL), one of the two national telecommunications operators in Vanuatu. TVL provides fixed line, mobile and internet service across the archipelago and now trades under the Vodafone brand as Vodafone Vanuatu, following its acquisition by the Amalgamated Telecom Holdings group.

What it's used for

This is a small-island national operator's eyeball network, and the reverse DNS shows it directly. Sampled addresses resolve to dsl1-modem5.tvl.vu and dsl2-modem5.tvl.vu — literally DSL modem naming — and to du-005.vanuatu.com.vu and du1-4.vanuatu.com.vu under the operator's other domain. Per-modem PTRs are about as unambiguous a subscriber-access signature as exists.

RIS sees 31 IPv4 prefixes carrying 6,656 addresses, no IPv6, and 2 observed neighbours. The address total is modest, which is appropriate for a country of Vanuatu's size, but the prefix count is high relative to it: a 202.80.32.0/20 and a 113.11.240.0/21 are announced alongside almost every /23 and /24 inside them. Deaggregating a small estate this thoroughly usually means traffic engineering across a constrained set of upstreams — with only two neighbours, splitting the announcements is one of the few levers available for steering inbound traffic. The absence of any IPv6 announcement is notable for a national operator.
