ASN-ORANGE-ROMANIA is the main network of Orange România S.A., the country's largest mobile operator and, since the fixed-line business was folded into the brand, a converged fixed-and-mobile provider. Roughly 226,000 IPv4 addresses across ~30 prefixes, with a very large peering footprint.

What it's used for

• Subscriber access. rDNS across the network is a uniform generic pattern of the form 92-180-0-1.orangero.net — the dashed-IP convention that operators apply wholesale to end-user pools.
• Both mobile data and Orange's fixed broadband ride this AS; the addressing does not visibly separate them.

Notable

• The registry keeps the company's history in plain sight. The large legacy blocks are named RO-DIALOG-* after Dialog, the GSM brand of MobilRom, the company that became Orange România. Newer allocations are simply RO-ORANGE.
• Well over a thousand peers according to public peering data — Orange România peers aggressively rather than buying all its capacity, which is characteristic of a national incumbent-scale eyeball network.
• The AS is heavily NAT-ed relative to its subscriber base: an operator with millions of customers announcing a few hundred thousand addresses is doing carrier-grade NAT, so per-address user attribution is unreliable here.

Interesting

• Orange România's fixed-line arm arrived via the former Telekom Romania, and the two sides of the business were only brought fully under one brand in 2022. Some Romanian fixed broadband still originates from other ASNs, so this AS is not the whole of Orange's Romanian footprint.
