AS8883 Switzerland

AS8883 is registered to UBS AG, the Swiss global bank. Some ASN listings show this network's name simply as "Switzerland" — that is a field from the registry object, not the operator's identity. The holder is the bank.

What it's used for

UBS's own global corporate network. RIS observes about 8,960 IPv4 addresses spread across 52 prefixes, plus a dozen IPv6 prefixes, behind only five neighbours. That combination — many small prefixes, very few upstreams — is the classic multinational-enterprise shape: office and data-centre blocks in several countries, each announced separately, all homed to a handful of carriers under contract.

No PTRs came back on the addresses sampled. That is not evidence of an undelegated zone, and for a bank it is unremarkable either way: financial institutions routinely keep reverse DNS sparse or internal on their own space.

Notable

• The inventory mixes ARIN-era legacy blocks (155.145.0.0/16 fragments, 165.222.0.0/16 fragments, 156.115.x) with RIPE space (193.134.x, 193.5.106.0/24). The 155.145 and 165.222 ranges are inherited from the pre-merger US operations of the Swiss banking groups that became UBS.
• Scattered small prefixes across multiple RIRs superficially resembles the address-broker silhouette, but every block here is registered to UBS itself. It is a real, if untidy, enterprise network.
• Classified business. Despite the size and geographic spread, nothing in this AS is sold to anyone: no transit, no hosting, no subscriber pools.
