IT-STCOM is held by Metrolink S.R.L. of Viale Lucania 3, Milan. The handle is a fossil: STCOM is Supertronic, the network's earlier identity, and Supertronic naming still appears in the live reverse DNS decades later.

What it's used for

Metrolink announces roughly 22,000 IPv4 addresses across six prefixes plus one IPv6 prefix, with 39 observed BGP neighbours — a well-peered regional Italian operator. The bulk sits in two legacy /19s (212.121.64.0/19, 212.45.128.0/19) and a /20 (217.174.112.0/20).

Sampled reverse DNS shows a mix of operator and customer naming, and it is instructive:

• ip217-174-112-100.ipnext.it — generic operator-assigned addressing under IPNext srl, a related company sharing Metrolink's Milan address and contacts
• non-registered-pc.supertronic.it — the ISP's placeholder name for addresses with no specific host record, still using the old Supertronic domain
• diesel.cu.mi.it, free100.cu.mi.it — named hosts on a customer's own domain

Notable

• PeeringDB self-describes this network as "Cable/DSL/ISP", but the sampled rDNS contains no consumer subscriber naming at all: no dsl-, pppoe-, dyn or pool labels. What is visible is generic assigned addressing and named customer hosts. The inventory reads as business connectivity and customer assignments rather than a consumer eyeball network, so the self-description is treated as a claim rather than evidence.
• The non-registered-pc PTR is a nice artefact: a wildcard-style default record that quietly reveals the operator's pre-rebrand identity.
