AS8813 VEGA-OD-

VEGA-OD-UA is the Odesa network of PrJSC Farlep-Invest, the company that operationally runs Vega Telecommunications Group, a Ukrainian fixed telephony, broadband and data-transfer operator. Vega has been part of the Vodafone Ukraine group since Vodafone acquired 99.99% of Farlep-Invest.

What it's used for

The suffix -OD- marks this as Vega's Odesa regional AS. It is small: a single /23 (78.111.216.0/23, ~512 addresses), no IPv6, and exactly one observed BGP neighbour. It is a leaf of a much larger group network rather than a standalone operator.

Every sampled address returns first-party reverse DNS of the form A-B-C-D.static.vega-ua.net. The static label is the decisive detail: these are fixed assignments, not dynamically allocated consumer addresses. There is no dsl, pppoe, dyn or pool naming anywhere in the sample, which is what a residential pool on this operator would look like.

Notable

• Vega is a well-known Ukrainian consumer broadband brand, but this particular AS is not carrying that traffic. Its space is static-assigned, consistent with Vega's business-internet, MPLS corporate-network, colocation and wholesale lines. Reading the parent brand onto this AS would file it as residential, which the rDNS contradicts.
• Vega was formed in October 2008 by merging Farlep, Optima Telecom and several smaller operators. The Farlep name survives only as the legal entity, which is why the registry holder and the trading brand do not match.
