AVANTEL-BARNAUL-AS is the Barnaul network of JSC Avantel, a Russian

business-focused telecom operator founded in Novosibirsk in 2002 and acquired by

ER-Telecom Holding in 2021. Avantel serves legal entities — companies and

government bodies — rather than households.

What it's used for

• Corporate internet access, dedicated channels, IP telephony and office PBX services across Barnaul and the Altai region. Roughly 4,900 IPv4 addresses over seven prefixes, no IPv6.
• rDNS is entirely first-party Avantel: generic host-IP-ADDR.avantel.ru assignments plus named infrastructure in the city zone — gw-dmz.barnaul.avantel.ru, bamm-pbx.barnaul.avantel.ru (a voice PBX), AVANTEL-BARNAUL-NETWORK-1.barnaul.avantel.ru.

Notable

• No residential naming anywhere. There are no dsl, pppoe, dyn or pool conventions in the sampled space, which matches Avantel's own positioning as a B2B operator with ~12,000 corporate clients. Do not read this as eyeball space simply because it is a Russian regional "internet provider".
• Note the parent: ER-Telecom (Dom.ru) is a giant residential operator, but its Avantel subsidiary's address space is business. The subsidiary's kind does not inherit from the group's.
• One city, two BGP neighbours, no downstreams — a regional branch AS, not a backbone.
