What it's used for

• Enterprise connectivity for Close Brothers itself. The AS announces two /24s and nothing more (about 500 IPv4 addresses), with a single BGP neighbour: a classic multihoming-ready but effectively stub corporate AS.
• The RIPE prefix is registered directly to the bank with the netname closebrothers-net. The second /24 sits in ARIN-originated space administered through RIPE.
• No rDNS is published on either prefix. That is deliberate and normal for a financial institution's edge: nothing about the internal estate is advertised in DNS.

Notable

• Corporate address space. There is no hosting, no transit and no customer space here — an AS number exists purely so the bank can run BGP at its own internet edge for resilience and address portability.
• Small inventory, single upstream, no rDNS: this shape is very common among banks, insurers and law firms, and it looks nothing like a service provider's.

Interesting

• Close Brothers is one of the older names in the City of London, founded in 1878. Its network footprint on the public internet is about as small as an AS-holding organisation's can get.
