private university founded in 1967 with campuses in Lisbon, Porto, Braga and

Viseu. The AS carries the university's own network.

• The RIPE object for the prefix is registered directly to the university with the netname UCP-LISBOA, co-maintained by FCCN — the standard arrangement for a Portuguese institution numbered out of the NREN's legacy space.

• Institutional space, not consumer space: a stub academic network with one upstream. rDNS for the block was not resolvable from outside at the time of writing, so the registry object rather than the naming is the evidence here.
• The prefix sits in a legacy 158.0.0.0/8 allocation and carries RIPE-NCC-LEGACY-MNT, marking it as pre-RIR address space that predates the modern allocation policy.

Interesting

• The university uses a fraction of what a public Portuguese university of the same size would announce. Private institutions in Europe often got a single small assignment through the NREN rather than a large early block of their own, and never had reason to grow it.
