AS8538 ILINK-AS Ventspils, Latvia

iLink-AS belongs to iLink SIA, a local internet and IT services company in Ventspils, the Baltic port city in western Latvia. It has been a registered electronic-communications merchant with Latvia's Public Utilities Commission since 2003, and sells connectivity to both households and businesses in Ventspils city and district alongside hardware supply and repair work.

What it's used for

Retail internet access in one Latvian region. The network is tiny: about 1,280 IPv4 addresses across two prefixes (195.8.115.0/24 and 192.162.104.0/22) with two observed BGP neighbours, which makes it a dual-homed leaf network buying transit rather than selling it.

Only one address sampled inside the announced space returned a PTR, as.ilink.lv — the operator's own border-router naming. No PTRs came back on the other addresses sampled, which says nothing about whether the rest of the space is delegated; it simply was not observed here.

Notable

• The two prefixes come from different legacy allocations, which is normal for a small ISP that has picked up address space in stages.
• iLink is a good example of the long tail of low-numbered ASNs — an early registration that still belongs to a small, regionally-scoped operator rather than to a national carrier.
