AS8515 DATAFORCE-AS Internet Service Provider

DATAFORCE-AS is the network of CJSC "DataForce IP", a Moscow internet

service and hosting provider. It announces a single 195.42.160.0/19 — about

8,000 addresses — from an address at 3rd Samotechny Lane in central Moscow.

What it's used for

• Web and mail hosting, virtual servers and colocation for Russian business customers, alongside leased-line internet access.
• Provider infrastructure: name servers, caches and gateways sit in the low end of the block, customer assignments fill the rest.

Notable

• rDNS is entirely first-party and splits cleanly in two. Most of the /19 uses a generic customer template — hNNN.nNNN.cust.dataforce.net — and a virtual-… zone marks shared-hosting addresses. Where a name has been customised it is a hosted website (Russian consumer and trade sites), not a subscriber.
• There is no dsl-, pppoe-, dyn- or other eyeball naming anywhere, so this is not a residential network despite the provider also selling access circuits. The address space is dominated by hosted content and customer servers.
• One observed BGP neighbour: a single-homed provider network, not transit.

Interesting

• DataForce has been in Moscow hosting since the dial-up era, which explains the four-digit AS number and the contiguous /19 obtained straight from RIPE rather than through an upstream.
