OBIT-AS is the network of OBIT Ltd (ООО «ОБИТ»), a St Petersburg-founded

telecom and IT-services operator. OBIT sells connectivity and managed IT to

organisations — business centres, retail and shopping complexes, developers,

finance and HoReCa — across St Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan and other Russian cities.

What it's used for

• Corporate internet access, VPN/L2 links, telephony and cloud/managed IT for commercial-property tenants and enterprise customers.
• Wholesale/inter-operator traffic; the AS carries roughly 80k IPv4 addresses across ~140 prefixes plus three IPv6 blocks.

Notable

• rDNS is almost entirely generic IP-DASHED.obit.ru (for example 95-161-222-100.obit.ru) with no dsl-, pppoe- or dyn- markers. Where a name is customised it belongs to a business: mail and edge hosts for pharma, logistics and port operators. That inventory backs the company's own positioning — the bulk of its revenue comes from organisations, not households.
• OBIT did enter the residential-building market as a secondary line, so a small share of the space may serve apartment blocks; the dominant use is B2B.

Interesting

• The AS number sits in an early-1990s range but RIPE records the current holder's registration in 2005, three years after OBIT was founded — this is a reissued number, not an early-internet allocation.
