TELENOR-SE is Telenor Sverige AB, the Swedish arm of the Norwegian Telenor

group and one of Sweden's largest fixed-broadband providers. This AS carries the

company's fixed access network and backbone.

What it's used for

• Residential broadband across Sweden. Subscriber addresses resolve as c-IP-ADDR.bbcust.telenor.se — bbcust for broadband customer — and the operator's own routers appear under ip.telenor.se.
• Two other Swedish consumer brands the group absorbed still show in the reverse DNS: IP-ADDR.customers.ownit.se (Ownit Broadband) and hosts under pingday.net.
• Roughly 2.6 million IPv4 addresses across 80-odd prefixes, a large share of the Swedish consumer internet.

Notable

• A large eyeball network. The overwhelming majority of these addresses front Swedish households, so they geolocate to homes rather than to servers.
• The rDNS is layered with the names of ISPs Telenor bought on its way to this size, which is why a single AS answers to several different consumer brands.
• Telenor's Swedish mobile subscribers are largely numbered elsewhere. The bbcust naming here is specifically the fixed broadband side.

Interesting

• Traces of much older Swedish networks survive on some of its legacy prefixes, where reverse DNS still points at gateways named for internet companies that no longer exist. A /16 acquired in the 1990s rarely gets its rDNS fully rewritten.
