AS8402 CORBINA-AS OJSC Vimpelcom

CORBINA-AS is registered to PJSC VimpelCom, the Russian operator that trades

as Beeline. The handle preserves Corbina Telecom, the Moscow broadband

provider VimpelCom absorbed, and the AS still carries the home-internet side of the

business.

What it's used for

• Fixed consumer broadband. Reverse DNS across the space is uniform and unambiguous: IP-ADDR.broadband.corbina.ru, a generated per-subscriber pool name, more than a decade after the Corbina brand disappeared from the market.
• A very large footprint, over two million IPv4 addresses across hundreds of prefixes, most of it concentrated in 95.24.0.0 through 95.31.0.0 space.

Notable

• An eyeball network. These addresses sit in front of Russian households and geolocate to residential subscribers, not to servers. It is one of the biggest consumer broadband ASNs in the country.
• Do not confuse it with VimpelCom's mobile network, which is a different AS. This one is the fixed-line inheritance from Corbina, and the reverse DNS is what makes the distinction visible.

Interesting

• Corbina was the network that made Ethernet-to-the-flat mainstream in Moscow, running cable up stairwells instead of waiting for the incumbent's copper. Beeline bought it and kept the plant; the routing data still calls it Corbina, which is a good reminder that a handle records who built a network, not who owns it.
