AS8396 TEE-

TEE-GR is the Technical Chamber of Greece (Techniko Epimelitirio Elladas), the

statutory professional body for engineers in Greece and the state's official

technical adviser. Unusually for a chamber, it runs a real ISP, and the AS carries

internet access for its members.

What it's used for

• Member internet access. Reverse DNS across the space is full of IP-ADDR.dyn.adsl.tee.gr dynamic pools and older IP-ADDR.her.dialup.tee.gr dial-up ranges, alongside static assignments named IP-ADDR.ath.static.tee.gr. The city tags in the names, Athens, Heraklion, Thessaloniki, Volos, map to the chamber's regional offices.
• The chamber's own systems: servers, databases, directory services and the public-facing sites for engineer registration and certification.

Notable

• A kind trap in both directions. The holder is a public-law body, so the AS looks governmental. But most of what it announces is end-user access space, so the addresses geolocate to people at home and in small offices, not to a government building. It is best described as a professional body operating as an ISP for its own membership.
• Two prefixes, roughly 8,000 addresses out of 212.70.192.0/19. Small, and entirely self-contained.

Interesting

• Professional bodies acting as ISPs was a real pattern in the 1990s, when a chamber or a university was often the only route to affordable access for its members, and it survives here in the reverse DNS long after the commercial market caught up.
