AS8331 RINET-AS Cronyx Plus Ltd

RINET-AS is the network of RiNet (Cronyx Plus Ltd), one of Moscow's early

commercial ISPs. The AS is now held by JSC "ER-Telecom Holding", the Perm-based

operator that absorbed RiNet, though the RiNet name survives in the registry object and

throughout the reverse DNS.

What it's used for

• Business connectivity in Moscow. Nearly every sampled address resolves as AxBxCxD.static-business.msk.ertelecom.ru — ER-Telecom's naming for static business assignments in Moscow. These are leased-line and dedicated-connection customers, not households.
• A small residue of RiNet's own infrastructure still resolves under rinet.ru (monitoring hosts, internal servers), which is how you can tell the two identities apart inside one AS.
• The footprint is tiny: about 1,280 addresses across five /24s, with a single BGP neighbour. This is a remnant network, not ER-Telecom's main operation.

Notable

• Do not inherit ER-Telecom's kind. The parent group is a large Russian residential broadband operator (Dom.ru), but this AS carries no subscriber pools at all — the rDNS says static-business on essentially every address. Classifying it as residential because of the holder would be wrong.
• Its consumer business runs on other ER-Telecom ASNs entirely.

Interesting

• The registry still describes AS8331 as "Cronyx Plus Ltd (RiNet ISP) Autonomous System" while the organisation object underneath it is ER-Telecom's. Handles and remarks blocks outlive acquisitions by years, and this AS is a clean example: two companies' names, one network.
