AS8312 ZYLON-AS

ZYLON-AS is Zylon, a Dutch network and hosting operator (registered in RIPE as

Bas Smit trading as Zylon). It runs a small multihomed network out of the

Netherlands carrying hosted servers, virtual machines and business connectivity.

What it's used for

• Hosting. Reverse DNS across the announced prefixes is dominated by provider-assigned names on zylon.net and as8312.net, including unused.zylon.net placeholders on free addresses and dedicated-server records.
• Whole ranges are handed to hosting brands and resellers that sit on top of the AS, so hostnames from several unrelated Dutch hosting companies appear inside the space.
• Static business assignments show up as customer-NNN.SUBNET.zylon.net, alongside a handful of end-customer domains including Dutch municipal and SaaS systems.

Notable

• The customer domains are not the operator. A Dutch municipality or a payments platform resolving inside these prefixes is a Zylon hosting customer, not evidence of who runs the network.
• The footprint is genuinely small (a few thousand addresses over about nine prefixes), and it looks like a real provider network with its own PTR conventions and NS records, not an assembled portfolio of unrelated blocks.
• No subscriber pools: no PPPoE, DSL or dynamic naming anywhere in the space.

Interesting

• The unused.zylon.net convention is a nice operational tell. The provider labels every unallocated address in its blocks, which makes it easy to see how much of the range is actually in service.
