DK-STOFANET-AS is held today by Norlys Digital A/S. Stofa was Denmark's

long-running cable-television and broadband operator; it ended up inside the

Norlys energy-and-telecoms group, and the AS handle preserves the older name.

What it's used for

• Residential broadband. Nearly every sampled address across 91.144.192.0/18, 31.193.232.0/21 and 185.10.212.0/22 resolves to the Norlys subscriber template: 91-144-200-20.norlyscustomer.net, 185-10-214-99.norlyscustomer.net and so on. The norlyscustomer label is unambiguous.

Notable

• Eyeball space. Traffic from this AS is Danish home internet users. The dotted-quad-in-hostname naming is the standard cable-modem pattern and the addresses rotate among subscribers, so per-address attribution is unstable even though the country is reliable.
• The handle is a fossil worth knowing about: searching for "Stofanet" leads to a brand that no longer sells service, while the rDNS names the current owner. Norlys holds several Danish ASNs inherited from the operators it absorbed.
• It also announces 128.0.8.0/21, part of the low-numbered space RIPE began issuing much later than the AS number itself was allocated.
