FASTNET-BKB-ASN is the backbone AS of Fastnet S.r.l., an internet and cloud

provider based in Ancona and active mainly across the Marche region since the

mid-1990s. It is a licensed Italian telecoms operator and runs its own data

centre, peering at both MIX (Milan) and NaMeX (Rome).

What it's used for

• Fixed access for businesses and homes in central Italy over xDSL, fibre and Hiperlan/WiFi wireless links, plus colocation, hosting and cloud servers out of Fastnet's own facility.
• Reverse DNS makes the mixture visible. Access addresses follow generic templates such as ip185-28-52-010.fastnet.it and wixan-205-150.fastnet.it (the wireless-access pool), hotspot addresses appear as htspt-210-005, while named machines like sole.fastnet.it and tojil.fastnet.it are the provider's own servers.
• Unallocated space is parked as unused.fastnet.it.

Notable

• Everything the AS announces sits inside Fastnet's own allocations (195.96.192.0/19, 185.28.52.0/22 and an IPv6 /32). There is no third-party or brokered address space here.
• A regional operator: roughly nine thousand IPv4 addresses, concentrated in one Italian region rather than spread nationally, so geolocation to the Marche is usually sound.
• The space is genuinely mixed — consumer access, wireless hotspots, business circuits and hosted servers all live in the same allocations — so a single label fits it poorly. Expect both eyeball and server traffic from this AS.
