The Autonomous System of KansasNet (KANSASNET), the internet arm of Fox

Business Systems of Manhattan, Kansas — one of the first ISPs in that part of the

state, founded out of a computer-services business in the 1980s.

What it's used for

• Regional internet access and hosting across Kansas, announced almost entirely from its own legacy ARIN /19 (KANSASNET-NETBLK1).
• Business, municipal and institutional connectivity — the rDNS in the block resolves to customer names such as a city government (mail.ci.manhattan.ks.us), a grain co-operative, a mechanical contractor, and hosted mail on hosting.kansas.net.

Notable

• Despite the "ISP" framing, the observable space is static business and organisational assignments, not consumer subscriber pools. Only isolated DSL-style names appear.
• Parts of the /19 carry ideatek.com rDNS — a separate Kansas fibre operator — and one announced /24 is registered to an unrelated Kansas manufacturer. Some of the space is delegated to downstream networks and should not all be attributed to KansasNet itself.

Interesting

• The AS name pairs the ISP brand with the parent computer-services company, a 1990s pattern where the local PC shop became the town's first internet provider.
