AS8000 DWX-AS

DWX-AS — a small independent Internet service provider in the Des Moines, Iowa

metro. The ARIN registrant reads Waddell Digital Imaging Center, but the

network in production is DWX Internet Services (Digital Warehouse Xpress),

which sells access to homes and businesses across central Iowa.

What it's used for

• Consumer and small-business internet access in the Des Moines area — DSL, fixed wireless and fibre-served customers.
• The provider's own mail, DNS and hosting services for its subscribers.

Notable

• Reverse DNS is the honest witness here: addresses resolve under dwx.net and dwx.com with subscriber-shaped names like ip20.dsl.dwx.com and ip7-207.206.197.dwx.net, alongside iowabroadband.com hosts. That is an access network, not a datacentre.
• The whole footprint is a single contiguous ARIN legacy block, 207.206.192.0/19 (11 announced /24s), and the AS has just one observed upstream. A regional ISP of exactly the size it appears to be.
• An IP here should be read as an Iowa end user, not a server.

Interesting

• The registrant name is a leftover: the ASN and the CIDR were registered in 1996 to a Des Moines imaging business, and the ISP grew out of it. Handles routinely outlive the company that first filed them.
