EXISNET is registered to EXISNET INC of Virginia Beach, Virginia — the ASN

behind exis.net, one of the small dial-up-era ISPs later rolled up under the

Sitestar group. What the AS announces today does not match that story, so this

card deliberately stops short of assigning it a kind.

What it's used for

• Unclear. The AS originates a single IPv4 block, 64.40.48.0/20, and nothing else — no IPv6, no other prefixes.
• That /20 sits inside 64.40.32.0/19, which ARIN registers not to ExisNet but to US Network Services of Mahwah, New Jersey, an unrelated third party.
• The block carries no reverse DNS at all, so there is no evidence of what actually sits on it — no subscriber pools, no hosts, nothing.
• It is single-homed behind one upstream, Voxility, a transit and DDoS-mitigation provider commonly used by resellers. A local Virginia access ISP would not be reached that way.

Notable

• Registry, routing and rDNS disagree, which is the shape of leased or repurposed address space rather than an operator running its own network.
• Because of that, addresses in 64.40.48.0/20 should not be geolocated to ExisNet or to Virginia Beach, and the AS is left unclassified rather than forced into isp on the strength of its 1990s name.
