TN-ASN-CL is Tarakona Networks, LLC, whose ARIN record gives a suite number at Coffeen Avenue in Sheridan, Wyoming — a registered-agent mailbox address rather than a facility. The AS number is old; the holder is not.

What it's used for

• Almost nothing observable. AS7850 announces a single IPv4 prefix, 198.187.253.0/24, behind a single upstream (InterWorld Communications), with no downstream networks.
• The /24 is a legacy block with a 1993 ARIN registration date, now re-registered to Tarakona. Its ARIN record carries the note that the addresses are non-portable.
• There is no reverse DNS anywhere in the /24, so there is no evidence of what, if anything, it carries.

Notable

• Treat the registrant address with suspicion when geolocating. A Sheridan, Wyoming suite number of this kind is a company-formation mailbox used by very large numbers of unrelated entities; it says nothing about where the network is. The block should not be geolocated to Wyoming on the strength of the whois record.
• The combination of an old AS number and old address space held by a recently-formed LLC at a mailbox, with a minimal footprint and no rDNS, is the shape of address holding rather than of an operating network. There is no honest kind to assign, so it is left unclassified.

Interesting

• The ASN's ARIN registration date of 1997 belongs to whoever first held the number, not to Tarakona, whose own organisation record dates from 2021. A low AS number is not evidence of an early-internet operator — numbers get transferred, and this is one of them.
