• Public-facing infrastructure for USAA's banking, insurance and investment services, along with corporate connectivity and mail gateways.
• The space is USAA's own legacy ARIN allocation 167.24.0.0/16, registered in 1993, announced as a couple of dozen individual /24s rather than as the aggregate. It also announces 198.148.150.0/24, a separate 1993 block registered as USAASECNET.
• There is no subscriber addressing and almost no public reverse DNS — the corporate pattern of an organisation that exposes only what it has to.

Notable

• This is enterprise financial-services space. A connection from 167.24.0.0/16 is a USAA system or an employee behind the corporate network. It should never be treated as consumer or hosting address space.
• Announcing a /16 as many discrete /24s is a common enterprise habit: it lets different services be steered to different upstreams without carrying the aggregate.

Interesting

• The -Z suffix on USAA's ARIN organisation handle is a legacy-cleanup artefact from ARIN's records tidying, not a sign that the allocation changed hands. The 1993 registration date is the real one, and it puts USAA among the earlier corporate arrivals on the internet.
