AS7832 PCISYS

PCISYS is PCI Fiber, LLC (trading as PCI Broadband), an independent internet provider in Colorado Springs, Colorado. AS7832 carries its fiber and fixed-wireless subscribers along the Front Range.

What it's used for

• Residential and business internet over its own fiber plant and fixed-wireless network, plus VoIP and colocation, all within the Colorado Springs metro.
• The address space is three ARIN blocks: 216.229.32.0/20, 209.177.128.0/21 and 72.13.192.0/21.
• Reverse DNS is templated on the long-running pcisys.net domain and openly labels the customer type. Dynamic subscriber addresses appear as cos.dyn.pcisys.net, static assignments as cos.sta.pcisys.net, and fixed-wireless customers get names like hathaway-wireless-static-…-gw.cos.pcisys.net. Some space also reverses to peakbroadband.net.

Notable

• This is genuine last-mile eyeball space: the dyn pools are ordinary home connections in Colorado Springs, and the sta names are small-business static IPs. Geolocating it to Colorado Springs is correct.
• The cos label embedded in every hostname is the Colorado Springs site code, which makes the whole footprint unusually easy to place geographically.

Interesting

• The ASN was registered with ARIN in 1997 under the PCISYS handle, from the company's original life as a dial-up and DSL provider; the ARIN organisation record was only recently refreshed under the PCI Fiber name. The old handle and the pcisys.net reverse-DNS zone both survive the rebrand.
