GOFORS is a small, old NTT network. It is registered today to NTT DOCOMO BUSINESS, Inc. — the company that was NTT Communications until its 2025 rename — and carries carrier infrastructure rather than any customer-facing service.

What it's used for

• Three prefixes in 192.47.0.0/16 (192.47.160.0/24, 192.47.170.0/23, 192.47.172.0/23), about 1,280 addresses in total, plus one IPv6 /48.
• Reverse DNS is entirely in jp.ntt.net, NTT's carrier network domain, with router and gateway names such as ote-gw.jp.ntt.net alongside plain address-derived hostnames. There are no subscriber pools, no hosting tenants and no enterprise customer domains anywhere in the sampled space.

• Deliberately left unclassified. This is network plumbing: too small to be a service network, and not the AS anyone reaches NTT through. NTT's actual retail and transit networks are [AS4713](https://asn.ipinfo.app/AS4713) (OCN) and [AS2914](https://asn.ipinfo.app/AS2914) (the global backbone). Assigning this AS an eyeball or hosting label would attach a kind it does not carry.
• The GOFORS netname itself is undocumented outside the registry, and no honest expansion of it is available — so none is offered here.

Interesting

• JPNIC records the 192.47.170.0/24 assignment as dating from August 1992, which puts this among the earlier surviving Japanese address registrations still in active use.
