MCNET is NTT SmartConnect Corporation, an Osaka-based NTT West group company. Its marketing is cloud, colocation and managed hosting — but the inventory says the network is mostly broadband access.

What it's used for

• Around 454,000 addresses across sixty-plus prefixes. The large ones are not the company's own: 124.245.0.0/16 and 122.100.16.0/21 are registered NTTWEST-NGN, 222.231.128.0/17 and 210.247.16.0/20 are FLETS-WEST, and 157.4.0.0/16 is NTT-WEST-BB2 — all held by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West. This is NTT West's FLET'S fibre and next-generation-network subscriber space.
• Reverse DNS confirms it: NN-NNN-NNN-N.gip-dyn.canvas.ne.jp is a dynamic global-IP pool for DoCANVAS, the apartment-building fibre internet service.
• A smaller set of prefixes is registered NTTSMC to the company itself, and those carry its data-centre and hosting customers.

Notable

• A kind trap. The name reads as a pure cloud provider; the address space is predominantly Japanese residential and small-business broadband. Anything geolocating this AS as datacentre space will be wrong for most of it.
• Distinct from [AS4713](https://asn.ipinfo.app/AS4713) (OCN, NTT's retail ISP) and [AS2914](https://asn.ipinfo.app/AS2914) (NTT's global transit backbone).
