AS7602 SPT-AS-VN Sai gon Postel Corporation

SPT-AS-VN is Saigon Postel Corporation, a Ho Chi Minh City telecom and postal-services company and one of Vietnam's licensed internet service providers. AS7602 carries its fixed-line internet network, long known by the SaigonNet brand.

What it's used for

• Consumer and business broadband across roughly 200 announced IPv4 prefixes, mostly in 116.118.0.0/16, 180.93.0.0/16 and 221.133.0.0/16. There is no IPv6 on this ASN.
• Reverse DNS is unusually sparse for an access network of this size. The few names that do resolve are SPT's own infrastructure (hcmc2.saigonnet.vn, mail.spt.vn) and hosted mail and web for Vietnamese business customers.

Notable

• SPT was founded in 1995 as the first joint-stock company in Vietnam's post and telecom sector, breaking the state monopoly. It has been a licensed ISP since the early days of Vietnamese consumer internet, offering ADSL and later FTTH.
• Because most of the address space carries no reverse DNS, per-address inferences about this network should be made cautiously. The prefixes are genuinely SPT's own, not brokered space.

Interesting

• SPT was the parent of S-Fone, Vietnam's third mobile operator and the country's only CDMA network, launched in 2003 as a joint venture with Korea's SK Telecom. SK Telecom exited in 2010 and the network wound down. That mobile business never lived on AS7602, which has always been the fixed-line side of the house.
