ONQ Communications (ONQ-AS-AP, registered simply as On Q), a Brisbane-based

Australian telco that sells business-grade internet over its own fibre and

fixed-wireless network as well as resold NBN, with a stated specialisation in the

education sector.

What it's used for

• Business and enterprise connectivity across Queensland and beyond, plus wholesale services. Despite the ISP shape, this is not a consumer broadband brand — ONQ's customers are companies, multi-site organisations and schools.
• Reverse DNS is the operator's own i.as7594.net naming: core routers, access switches and broadband network gateways tagged by site (bne, syd, tsv for Brisbane, Sydney and Townsville), with customer addresses given flat IP-ADDR.i.as7594.net style names.

Notable

• An IP here is most likely a business or institutional connection. Some of the space is delegated straight to customers, and the rDNS shows it: one /24 resolves entirely under a Queensland school's qld.edu.au domain.
• The presence of BNG (broadband network gateway) routers in the rDNS does not make this an eyeball network — the same equipment serves business DSL and NBN services.

Interesting

• The AS is well-peered for its size, with dozens of peers and several upstreams, which is what a small carrier that runs its own network looks like as opposed to a pure reseller.
