AS7588 PUBNET-TH-AS Thailand Public backbone Network

PubNet, the Thailand Public backbone Network (PUBNET-TH-AS), a national public

network project run out of NECTEC, Thailand's National Electronics and Computer

Technology Center.

What it's used for

• Backbone connectivity for Thai public-sector and public-interest networks. It was built by NECTEC's Network Technology Laboratory and sits alongside sibling national projects such as SchoolNet and the country's public internet exchange.
• Reverse DNS on its space is unambiguously NECTEC: hosts resolve under nectec.or.th, including names in the lab's own ntl.nectec.or.th subdomain.

Notable

• An IP here is government/research infrastructure, not a commercial ISP customer. NECTEC is a state research agency, so the address space carries agency servers and national-project systems rather than consumer subscribers.
• The inventory is small and self-contained: one legacy 202.44.204.0/24 plus a 203.185.64.0/19, both APNIC allocations to the Thai public network.

Interesting

• NECTEC ran much of Thailand's early internet build-out, and this AS is one of the surviving pieces of that period, still announcing the same NECTEC-named space decades later.
