AS7560 CHONBUK-AS Jeonbuk National University

CHONBUK-AS-KR is the network of Jeonbuk National University, a large national

university in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province. The AS is registered to the campus on

Baekje-daero and announces around thirty prefixes drawn from several generations of

Korean address space.

What it's used for

• Campus networking: faculty and administrative systems, teaching and laboratory networks, the university's libraries and its student residences.
• Research traffic, which for a Korean national university generally rides the national research and education backbones rather than commercial transit.

Notable

• An education network. University address space mixes staff desktops, servers, lab equipment and student housing behind one AS, which is why campuses do not fit neatly into either the eyeball or the hosting bucket.
• The forty thousand or so addresses here are typical of a major national university, and the prefixes are scattered across old 203.x and newer 114.x, 220.x and 59.x blocks rather than sitting in one contiguous range. That is a sign of space accumulated over a long period rather than allocated at once.

Interesting

• The romanisation moved but the handle did not. The university renamed itself from Chonbuk to Jeonbuk National University in 2020, following Korea's revised romanisation, while the AS handle still reads CHONBUK-AS-KR.
