Gladstone, Queensland. Founded in 1999, it is a regional wireless ISP rather than a

national carrier.

What it's used for

• Retail internet access around Gladstone and the neighbouring towns of Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Yarwun and Beecher: fixed-wireless broadband delivered from the company's own towers, plus resold nbn fibre connections.
• Related small-business services on the side, including VoIP and cloud PBX, web hosting and web design.

Notable

• An eyeball network, so its addresses sit in front of home and small-business subscribers rather than in front of servers. It is a genuinely small one: the AS carries only a couple of thousand addresses across a handful of prefixes.
• Reverse DNS is thin across the space, which is typical of a small operator, and the records that do exist point at customer machines such as mail servers on local business domains.
• Because much of its retail business is nbn resale, a good deal of Dreamtilt's customer traffic rides addressing that is not announced from this AS at all.

Interesting

• Fixed wireless is the reason this ISP exists. Gladstone is an industrial port city in central Queensland where local wireless coverage beat waiting on fixed-line infrastructure, which is the same logic behind most Australian regional WISPs.
