AS7257 GPC

MARU-NET is held by OTO GK, a Japanese company operating a small network

under the MARU name. The AS number is a reissue: the registration dates to

2026, so despite the low number this is a modern holder with no early-internet

pedigree.

What it's used for

• MARU describes itself in peering records as a network service provider in the Asia-Pacific region with an open peering policy.
• What it actually announces is modest: two /24s re-registered as MARU-CIDR-BLK-JP, plus a large IPv6 /29. Its published site was still a placeholder at the time of writing.

Notable

• The registry paperwork is unusual. A Japanese organisation holds the AS and its address blocks through RIPE rather than APNIC, and the IPv6 /29 is registered to a separate individual, with only a MARU remark linking them.
• The IPv4 blocks are recycled legacy space, not a fresh allocation — a common pattern for small networks assembled out of transferred address blocks.
• Because the self-description (a regional network service provider) is far larger than the inventory it announces, this network is best treated as unclassified rather than forced into a category.
