CENTURYLINK-PRISM is registered to CenturyLink Communications, LLC — now part of

Lumen Technologies — and is named for Prism TV, CenturyLink's IPTV service.

What it's used for

• Announces just two prefixes (69.179.194.0/23 and 69.179.196.0/22, roughly 1,500 addresses), both carved out of the legacy CenturyTel netblock 69.179.0.0/16.
• The AS exists as a separate routing identity for the Prism platform rather than as a general-purpose CenturyLink network — the carrier's main backbone and broadband ASNs are elsewhere and far larger.

Notable

• Prism TV was CenturyLink's managed IPTV product, launched in markets as copper plant was upgraded to fibre. It stopped taking new customers in 2018 and was wound down across its markets from 2020 onward, so the service the AS is named for is effectively retired.
• Reverse DNS across the whole range is CenturyLink's generic auto-generated pattern (69-179-194-5.centurylink.net), which reveals nothing about how the space is used today. Anyone claiming certainty about its current role is guessing.

Interesting

• The AS is a fossil of a product line: the name outlived the service, and the prefixes are still announced years after Prism TV was shut off.
