serving most of central, coastal and southern California outside Los Angeles

What it's used for

• SCE's own corporate and operational networking: offices, generation and distribution facilities, and the systems that run the grid.
• Announces a small number of very large legacy blocks, including 192.212.0.0/15, 155.13.0.0/16, 163.236.0.0/16 and 192.214.64.0/19, well over a quarter of a million IPv4 addresses.

Notable

• The address space is enormous relative to the number of prefixes and carries essentially no public reverse DNS. That is the fingerprint of a utility: a very large private-facing estate (substations, SCADA-adjacent corporate systems, field and metering infrastructure) with only a thin public edge.
• This is an enterprise network, not a service provider. None of the space is sold to subscribers.

Interesting

• Big US utilities were among the earliest non-academic organisations to obtain large address allocations, since they already ran extensive private data networks for grid operations before the commercial internet existed. The legacy /15 and two /16s here are a relic of that era.
