BEZEK is Bezeq, Israel's incumbent fixed-line telecommunications operator. The AS carries the company's broadband access address space and announces roughly 200 prefixes.

What it's used for

• Consumer broadband. The subscriber blocks are registered with netnames such as BEZEQ-ISP-BROADBAND, and reverse DNS resolves in the form bzq-79-177-130-5.red.bezeqint.net — the bzq prefix and per-address templating are the signature of a residential pool, not of servers or infrastructure.
• A smaller amount of legacy space is marked for business customers, but the bulk of the inventory is access addressing.

Notable

• Israel historically separated the access network from the internet service layer, so a Bezeq subscriber's line came from Bezeq while their internet account came from an ISP. That structure is visible here: the addresses are announced by Bezeq's AS while the reverse-DNS zone lives under bezeqint.net, the affiliated ISP's domain.
• Treat this as an eyeball network. It buys transit from many upstreams and peers broadly, which is the shape of an operator whose traffic is overwhelmingly inbound to subscribers.

• One of the allocations behind this AS carries the netname IL-BEZEQ-19920128 — RIPE's convention of stamping the registration date into the netname leaves a small archaeological record of when the incumbent first took address space.
