INEXT-CZ-ADA is held by ČEZNET s.r.o., the retail internet arm of the Czech energy group ČEZ. ČEZNET sells fibre-to-the-home broadband over the group's backbone, which is operated by its parent Telco Pro Services.

What it's used for

• Consumer and small-business broadband in the Czech Republic. Reverse DNS on the announced space shows customer pools under two acquired regional ISP brands — cust-…​.inext.cz and cust-…​.numerinet.cz — the cust- prefix marking subscriber assignments.
• Four RIPE allocations (212.90.224.0/19, 82.202.0.0/18, 213.235.64.0/18, 185.193.128.0/22), all with netnames of the form CZ-CEZNET21-….

Notable

• An electricity utility making a credible broadband ISP is less strange than it sounds: ČEZ already owned fibre strung along its transmission network for grid telemetry, and retail internet monetises the spare capacity.
• The AS name is a fossil. INEXT was a regional Czech provider absorbed into the group; the registry object still carries its name while the customers are billed by ČEZNET.

Interesting

• The dual rDNS domains are a straightforward map of the consolidation: each acquired ISP kept its own naming, and nobody renumbered the customers afterwards. Reverse DNS is often the last place a retired brand survives.
