the handle CBSI-1 from San Francisco. CBS Interactive's properties now sit under

Paramount.

What it's used for

• Hosting and delivery for CBS's own web properties. Reverse DNS on its space names the brands directly, with routers appearing under cbsig.net and sportsline.com, the long-running CBS Sports domain.

Notable

• This is a media company's own infrastructure, not a hosting service sold to others. Addresses here front CBS-operated sites and the network gear behind them.
• CBS Interactive as an organisation has largely been dissolved and reorganised. Its consumer tech brands were sold off, and the streaming business was folded into Paramount's streaming division, but the ARIN registration and much of the reverse DNS still carry the CBS Interactive identity.

Interesting

• One of the AS's blocks sits at 216.239.112.0/20, next door to ranges most people associate with Google. It is genuinely CBS Interactive's: ARIN registers the network to CBSI, and its reverse DNS resolves under cnet.com, a leftover from when CNET was part of the group. Adjacency in the address space says nothing about common ownership.
