PRIMUS-AS6407 is Primus Telecommunications Canada Inc., a long-running Canadian consumer and small-business telecom brand. Primus was acquired by Distributel in 2021, and Distributel in turn was bought by Bell Canada, so the brand now sits inside the Bell group while continuing to operate as a separate retail provider.

Notable

This is eyeball space. Reverse DNS is unambiguous — hostnames under primus.ca carry city labels such as tor and ottawa, including old dialin- naming that survives from the dial-up era — so addresses here front Canadian households, not servers. The many small prefixes reflect a reseller/CLEC that assembled its footprint over years of allocations rather than receiving one large block.

Interesting

Primus is a survivor of the Canadian independent-ISP consolidation: an early competitive carrier that outlasted most of its peers, only to end up owned by the incumbent it once competed with. The AS number, registered in 2000, has stayed with the network through every change of owner.
