AS6067 ONYX Pulsant - Onyx Group

ONYX is the autonomous system of Onyx Internet / Onyx Group, a UK managed-hosting and connectivity provider based in the north-east of England. Onyx was acquired by the UK data-centre and cloud operator Pulsant in 2016, and the RIPE record now carries the description Pulsant - Onyx Group.

What it's used for

• Historically, connectivity and hosting for Onyx's UK business customers out of its own data centres.
• Today the AS is largely dormant on the IPv4 side: it announces a single IPv6 /32 and no IPv4 prefixes, with Pulsant's own AS carrying the operational traffic.

Notable

• A hosting/colocation network rather than a consumer ISP — Onyx sold colo, cloud, and managed connectivity to businesses.
• The RIPE object still lists peering at LINX, LoNAP and LIPEX, a snapshot of the network as it stood before the Pulsant consolidation.
• The zero IPv4 count is real, not a data gap: the IPv4 space that once sat behind this number is now originated elsewhere.

Interesting

• The AS number was originally issued out of the ARIN-era pool and later moved to RIPE NCC in the historical (ERX) transfer of European resources, which is why an ARIN lookup shows only a block placeholder.
