What it's used for

• Hosting and cloud infrastructure. Reverse DNS across both announced blocks resolves under macromind.net, and the Macromind site is itself served from inside the network.

Notable

• Very small: two /24s, roughly 512 addresses. One is legacy space, the other is assigned out of Cogent's 38.0.0.0/8, so only part of the inventory is the operator's own.
• ARIN registered both the organisation and AS5651 in January 2025. This is one of the most recent reassignments of a low AS number and carries no early-internet history whatsoever.
• The reverse-DNS names are randomised strings rather than descriptive hostnames, which is typical of bulk-provisioned hosting rather than a corporate network.

Interesting

• The registrant name (a capital-management LLC) and the operating brand (Macromind Cloud) do not match. That is a common arrangement when address space is held by a holding company rather than the entity actually running the network, but it does mean the registry name tells you little about what the space does.
