AS3601 IXA-NET

IXA-NET belongs to Interconnected Associates (IXA) Inc., a small

network-services company registered in the Seattle area of Washington State.

What it's used for

• The company's own network and the handful of systems it runs — the IPv4 footprint is a single /24, alongside an IPv6 allocation.
• Multihomed routing: despite its size the network takes transit from more than one upstream and peers directly, which is why it needs an ASN at all.

Notable

• Very small. With 256 IPv4 addresses this is at the tiny end of the routing table — an operator's network, not a consumer ISP or a hosting pool.
• A reminder that AS numbers say nothing about size. This one sits next to Microsoft's in the numbering, but the two differ by several orders of magnitude in address count.

Interesting

• Networks like this survive from the era when independent operators and consultancies routinely got their own AS numbers, and many still quietly hold and announce them decades later.
