AS3240 SEKTORNET

SEKTORNET is the network of Styrelsen for It og Læring (STIL), the Danish Agency for IT and Learning under the Ministry of Children and Education. Sektornet was the name of Denmark's sector network for schools and educational institutions.

What it's used for

• Hosting and connectivity for national education services run by the agency: digital testing and exam platforms, login and identity services for schools, and administrative systems used across the Danish primary and secondary school system.
• The address space behaves as a government service network, not a consumer ISP. Traffic to it is users reaching agency-run applications rather than homes or offices sitting behind it.

• This is a government address: hosts here belong to a Danish state agency, so activity from the range is agency infrastructure rather than a random subscriber.
• The SEKTORNET handle outlived the original school-network branding; the ASN stayed with the agency as its remit shifted to central education IT.

Interesting

• The low AS number is genuinely old: it sits in an early RIPE allocation block, from the era when a national education network was one of the few organisations in a country large enough to need its own AS.
