LOBOIS is Lobo Internet Services, Ltd, a New Mexico fixed-wireless ISP operating out of Albuquerque, with a mailing address in Moriarty and cell sites across the Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Santa Fe and East Mountain areas. It sells wireless internet access along with web hosting and design.

What it's used for

• RIS observes four IPv4 prefixes carrying 9,472 addresses plus one IPv6 /32 (2605:6800::/32), against 12 neighbours. That is a small regional access network with a healthy number of upstream and peering relationships, not a carrier and not a content platform.
• Every announced prefix is registered in ARIN to Lobo Internet Services itself, under LOBO-INTERNET-V4-01/02/03 and LISL-2. Announcer and registrant match on all of it, and none of the address space is registered to an unrelated third party.

• Reverse DNS is first-party and reveals the shape of the estate directly. Sampled addresses resolve to svrcore-<addr>.lobo.net, lobo-ap2.lobo.net (a wireless access point), lb.lobo.net (a load balancer) and netbox.infra.lobo.net. Access-point and infrastructure hostnames sitting alongside plain subscriber records is exactly what a WISP that also hosts customer sites looks like.
• Self-registered space with self-branded rDNS is the strongest available signal that this is a genuine operator running its own network rather than announcing leased address space.

Interesting

• ARIN dates the ASN to 1999, and the company says it has served the area since 1996, so this is one case in this range where the low number really does belong to a long-lived network.
